Orchid Culture Training underway at RDTC

The Rural Development Training Centre (RDTC) is currently conducting an Orchid Culture Training from 21st October to 20th November 2025. A total of 16 participants from various Dzongkhags across the country are taking part in this month-long training program.

The institute warmly welcomed the new batch of trainees encouraging them to embrace creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial spirit in the growing field of orchid cultivation. This short-term course is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to become competent in orchid culture and management.

During the training, participants will gain both theoretical and practical exposure to various aspects of orchid cultivation, including:

  1. Construction of propagation chamber
  2. Construction of racks & support system
  3. Identification of orchids species
  4. Regulation of climatic factors
  5. Preparation of orchid culture media
  6. Orchid propagation techniques
  7. Nutrient management
  8. Pest and disease management
  9. Post-harvest handling and management

This training aims to empower participants to explore income-generating opportunities through orchid farming while contributing to the promotion of sustainable horticultural practices in Bhutan.
